First click on tools and select account settings as shown in the
image below.
Click on sever settings as shown below.
Click the SSL option.
In the Server Name box enter pop.gmail.com
In the User Name box enter your FULL megatron email address.
Click on Outgoing servers.
Select the outgoing server from the list and click Edit.
In the Server Name box enter smtp.gmail.com
Check the SSL Option
In the port Box enter 465.
Check the Use name and password Box.
In the user Name box enter your FULL email address.
Click OK.
Click OK on the remaining windows.
That's it. You can now use Mozilla Thunderbird instead of webmail to
check your email. If it does not work, recheck the settings to
make sure you did not mistype anything.
Keep in mind that this does not retrieve the spam folder.
The webmail system will still filter the spam. You will still
need to use the webmail to check the contents of that folder.
If you do not want it to filter your account for spam, you will need to
create a filter in the webmail system that will let the spam
through.
